History of the Journal
The Journal of Exercise Science -FOD- (RCE-FOD, in Spanish) arises from a need to have a hemerographic source, where the results of the professors’ projects from our School are published, as well as external professors who publish about the areas of exercise sciences. Initially, it was proposed that the periodicity of the journal would be yearly.
RCE-FOD published its first issue in January 2006. The journal is edited by Dr. Jeanette M. López Walle and M.C. Mireya Medina Villanueva. The journal is presented by the authorities of the school of that year, director Dr. José Alberto Pérez García. The journal is presented from the first issue with its legal registration before the Instituto Nacional del Derecho de Autor, in which four articles are published, which are reviewed by a board of local and external editors.
The journal achieves its International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) from the second issue (August 2006), this management is carried out by the editors of the journal. During the following 3 years (2007, 2008 and 2009) a total of 11 articles were published. Starting in 2010 and based on the new management of the school directed by Dr. Oswaldo Ceballos Gurrola and the new institutional regulations, the journal is part of the catalog of journals from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, managing a new ISSN number, as well as the trademark registration before the Instituto Mexicano de Propiedad Intelectual, this implies a change in the cover and in the legal page.
For the 2010-2011 edition, Dr. José Leandro Tristán Rodríguez was integrated as executive editor, and the first supplement of the XIX International FOD Congress was introduced, which increased the number of papers published both in the regular issue (5 articles) and in the supplement (47 extended abstracts). For the 2011-2012 edition, 19 articles and 42 abstracts are published in the supplement of the XX International FOD Congress. For the 2013-2014 edition it was determined an increment over the number of participations in Contributed Papers within the framework of the School Congress, achieving a total of 58 summaries published on the journal supplement, where 59 of the summaries, 25 were presented in the modality of poster, and 33 as symposium modality from 6 thematic areas: 4 older adults, 4 high performance, 5 physical activity, 5 sport management, 5 sports psychology, and 10 physical activity and wellness. For the 2014-2015 edition it was continued the articles and supplements Congress duo, but on this occasion are extended articles into the supplement.
For the 2015-2016 edition and due to the new school management, headed by Dr. José Leandro Tristán Rodríguez, there is a commitment to increase the number of original articles, rising at 9 published articles besides the 11 extended summaries published into the supplement of XXIV International School Congress. After this number and due to the necessity of being evaluated by the CONACyT evaluating peers to become part of the Mexican Science and Technology Journal System, the editorial committee is renewed heading Dr. Germán Hernández Cruz as executive editor, who reviews the regulations established in CONACyT and based on it the journal stops being published annually and it transforms into a semi-annual basis, furthermore, the revisers committee is renewed and the need of achieve articles by national and international authors is disclosed.
During Mr. Rúben Ramírez Nava’s management for 2022 to 2025 period and for the 2022 journal edition, the editorial committee is renewed by taking the responsibility the Dr. José L. Tristán Rodríguez as journal director, who will have the entrustment of increasing the quality indicators both national and international level.
