Through youth participation in sports activities, various characteristics of sportspersonship can be developed. During these stages, young people learn to adapt to social norms and rules, making it a critical period for identity formation and the acquisition of values. In order to enhance this development, it is essential to have adequate tools to evaluate the different psychological variables involved in sport, in this case sportsmanship orientation. The objective of this study was to adapt and validate the Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale (MSOS) in the context of Mexican athletes between the ages of 10 and 15. For the adaptation, expert judgment was used to obtain evidence of content validity, and cognitive interviews were conducted to obtain evidence of response validity. The results of both were compared and integrated to support the decisions made in the final version of the instrument. Aiken's V scores for sufficiency, clarity, coherence, and relevance were found to be above the established criteria. A total of 33 modifications were made, distributed across the different phases. It can be concluded that the MSOS-V3 is a valid instrument that can be used in future studies. It is suggested that further research be conducted on the relationships between sportspersonship orientation and other psychological and social factors, as well as longitudinal studies and the development of interventions to promote a healthy orientation toward sports.
