Abstract

Muscular power is an essential component of performance in aerobic gymnastics, particularly during the execution of jumps and dynamic transitions. This study is relevant because it contributes to optimizing training planning in young athletes by linking practice with scientific principles from physiology and biomechanics. The objective was to evaluate the effects of a training program aimed at developing muscular power in adolescents practicing aerobic gymnastics. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was used, consisting of an experimental group and a control group (n = 14, ages eight–14 years). Pre- and post-intervention measurements were applied, assessing weight, height, and body mass index, as well as physical tests: Squat Jump (SJ), Countermovement Jump (CMJ), and Abalakov Test (ABK). Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (Wilcoxon test, p < .05) with SPSS v.21 software. Significant differences were observed in the SJ test within the experimental group (p < .05), indicating an improvement in concentric muscular power. In contrast, the CMJ and ABK tests did not show relevant changes. The training program proved effective in increasing muscular power among adolescent gymnasts, particularly in concentric contraction movements. However, the development of coordination and the stretch-shortening cycle requires longer interventions or more varied stimuli. These findings provide valuable evidence for designing specific training programs in aerobic gymnastics.
