Volleyball is a sport where jumping is an important factor for success, so within the physical preparation in this sport it is very common to see programs aimed at improving jumping performance. One of the methods used to develop this skill in the short term is the French contrast method. Objective: to analyze the effect of applying the French contrast method in the vertical jump in a women's volleyball team in its preparation prior to a competition. Methodology: The study was pretest-postest. The study was carried out on seven volleyball players from the senior Mexican national team (weight = 71.63 ± 6.84 kg; height = 176.97 ± 8.04 cm; age = 24.26 ± 3.37 years). The vertical jump was evaluated before and after the application of a training program focused on the elastic-explosive strength of the lower extremities using the French contrast method prior to a competition for six microcycles. Results: the results show significant differences (p < .05) in the SJ and ABK jump, and effect sizes considered large for the SJ and ABK, while the CMJ did not show significant differences and showed a moderate effect size. Conclusion: The French contrast method showed improvements in jumping after six weeks of training.
