Plagiarism Policy

Anti-Plagiarism Policy:

The Journal of Exercise Sciences FOD maintains a strict commitment to scientific ethics, originality, and transparency in research. Consequently, we apply a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data falsification, or redundant publication. Any manuscript that engages in these practices will be immediately rejected.

1. Similarity Detection Process
To safeguard the originality of the texts, the Editorial Team uses plagiarism detection software throughout the entire evaluation process.

• Main tool: The iThenticate program is used for manuscript similarity analysis.

• Pre-publication evaluation: Starting in July 2025, all accepted articles will undergo a mandatory final review using iThenticate just before layout and final publication, ensuring the utmost integrity of the published issue.

2. Similarity Criteria and Exceptions
We are particularly committed to preventing any form of plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

• Similarity Limit: As a general rule, submitted articles should not exceed 20% similarity (strictly excluding bibliographic references). Submissions with a higher percentage will generally be rejected.

• Overall Analysis and Justification: If the similarity percentage exceeds 20%, the case will be analyzed individually and overall by the Editor. Authors have the right to request the acceptance of their work by submitting a valid methodological or technical justification for this percentage (for example, the use of unavoidable technical terminology or standard methodologies). The Editor will have the final decision regarding its viability.

3. Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
In response to current technological advancements, the journal permits the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence tools. However, authors who have used language models or generative AI in their work must explicitly declare which applications they used and in which specific processes or sections of the manuscript they were employed. AI cannot be listed as a co-author of the study under any circumstances.

4. Sanctions for Ethical Violations
Violations of this scientific integrity policy carry severe consequences. Authors who violate anti-plagiarism rules, falsify data, or publish redundant material will be sanctioned with a five (5) year ban on submitting articles to the Journal of Exercise Sciences (FOD), and their affiliated institutions may be notified depending on the severity of the violation.
