Introduction: at present, muscular power is essential in sports that require high levels of force in a short period of time, including combat sports. One of the methodologies for the development of muscular power is Post Activation Potentiation (PAP), which seeks to stimulate the contractile capacity at the muscular level for a greater production of muscular power after the stimulus. Objective: to determine the effects of PAP on muscle power in combat sports. Methodology: a systematic review of randomized studies was carried out between the months of June and July 2023, to achieve this, a search was made in the Scopus, PubMed, Scielo and Google Scholar databases. The terms “PAP” OR “potentiation post activation” AND “combat sports” were used. Results: a total of 265 studies were identified, of which only nine met the criteria established for their selection. In all studies, one to three PAP protocols were applied and compared with each other or with a control group. Conclusion: PAP appears to have positive effects on muscle power in some combat sports when using strength protocols, isometrics, maximal strength, contrasts maximal strength with plyometrics, plyometrics, clusters, and resistance band use with a load intensity between 65% and 110% of the 1RM (Rep Max), as well as time windows between 30 seconds to 10 minutes.
